Market Street

Dartford Council made a bid for a government grant to transform the tired and confusing road layout and bus stands through Market Street. In late 2017, the Council learnt that their bid had been successful.

The Council are now consulting on plans that would see the relocation of the existing bus stands to Hythe Street & Home Gardens and creating new visitor car parks around a traditional civic square.

The new square will be bounded by the Acacia Mansion House, Carnegie Library and Museum, the new Brewery Quarter of the Lowfield Street development and entrances to One Bell Corner and the High Street. During construction, the plan is to switch car parking from one phase of the square to another, to ensure places are always provided.
